Nintendo wants to continue working on new games, leaving HD remakes to development partners.
With The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD tripling sales of the Wii U in September, Nintendo is by no means going to stop making HD remakes. Speaking with a panel of reporters earlier this week, Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto answered a question on the potential of releasing other HD remakes.
“That’s certainly possible, but most of our developers are working on new games,” he said. “We like to have them working on new stuff. HD remakes might be a good project for development partners, so that’s something I hope we can introduce in the future.”
In the past Nintendo has handed off many of their other IPs to external developers such as Metroid, Donkey Kong, Super Smash Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. Personally, I’d love to see more remakes of other Nintendo games in HD, especially The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. Make it happen Nintendo.
