First, the Watch Dogs delay, and now DRIVECLUB. Launch games are having a less than stellar week. Today, Shuhei Yoshida, President of SCE Worldwide Studios, took to the Playstation blog announcing that DRIVECLUB will be delayed until early 2014. Reasons for the delay you ask? Well, Shuhei had the typical PR response:
SCE Worldwide Studios and the team at Evolution Studios have made the difficult decision to delay the release of DRIVECLUB and DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition until early 2014. DRIVECLUB will be a truly innovative, socially connected racing game, but the team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision — and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.
Sony was using DRIVECLUB Playstation Plus Edition to bolster their Instant Game Collection, and its loss leaves a hole in the lineup. Luckily, DRIVECLUB Playstation Plus Edition will still be included in the Instant Game Collection when it is released in early 2014, and they have added Contrast, new game by Compulsion Games, to the Instant Game Collection in DRIVECLUB‘s absence.
