Simmers rejoice, you’re getting another game! EA announced earlier today that The Sims 4 is currently in development and planned for a 2014 release on both PC and Mac. According to EA, “The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience.” The announcement hints at letting players further explore their creativity and become more involved with the worlds of their Sims though use of “new and intuitive tools”. As with each previous release of a Sims game, I’m just excited to what Maxis has in store for my Sims.
The Sims franchise hasn’t seen a base game release since 2009, but Maxis and EA have always been good with providing new content for whichever games they release. The entire computer series boasts 24 total expansion packs across three base games, with a new The Sims 3 expansion due out next month. Between additional object packs and user created custom content, the possibilities are nearly endless when it comes to creating your own unique Sims experience. This new chapter in The Sims series will no doubt maintain the trend of offering more expansive worlds and individualized Sims.
