The second title in the prolific Harvest Moon franchise is getting a 3DS release, according to a tweet sent by Natsume earlier today. Harvest Moon GBC will be appearing on the 3DS eShop Thursday, marking its third release on a Nintendo handheld. The farming simulation game was originally released to the Game Boy in 1998 as Harvest Moon GB, making it the first of the popular farming sim to go portable. A colorized version was released on the Game Boy Color later the same year.
Call me boring, but Harvest Moon has been one of my favorite franchises for most of my life. I spent a good chunk of my time as a kid figuring out my watering and feeding schedules for virtual crops and animals, all while trying to woo village girls with a steady stream of gifts. As I try my hand at this adulthood thing, I find myself coming back time and time again to newer releases of Harvest Moon games. There’s something about that simple farming sim that keeps me coming back to experience it over and over. This newest release will no doubt keep the trend going.
Harvest Moon GBC joins the 3DS family Thursday, May 16.
