Over the weekend, Square Enix producers announced that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, the company’s flagship MMORPG, is slated for release this summer on both PC and PlayStation 3.
The game is going to be entering the third phase of beta testing, which means that PlayStation 3 users will finally get a chance to experience the game. FFXIV boasts cross-platform play, meaning that both PC and PS3 players will be able to interact in-game. Beta testers will be exposed to new content in the third phase, and will be introduced to two new city-states, Limsa Lominsa and Ul’dah. Given Square Enix’s past experiences with the original FFXIV, they have probably recognized the reasons for which it failed, and will more than likely build on the problems of the original in A Realm Reborn.
