Aksys Games was at Anime Expo this year with a set of announcements for their follow up to the cult hit 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. The series of games from developer Chunsoft was rebranded by Aksys earlier this year under the Zero Escape name. With such long and arguably confusing titles to associate with a brand, Aksys had to think outside the box to put more focus on the franchise.
The first game, will be getting a reprint with the updated title “Zero Escape: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.” Good news for those of you that sat out on this incredible adventure game.
The reprint is the first step in marketing for the big sequel Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. To coincide with the release, Aksys plans on launching the game with another watch pre-order incentive. Aksys’s Ben Bateman has stated that the accessory will be “more wearable” than the last game’s.
Finally, my favorite bit of incentive, Aksys announced that they will be streaming the promotional anime that Chunsoft made for the series. The anime focuses on the early moments when the 9 characters come together and should make for some nice entertainment. It’s made by Gonzo of Afro Samurai fame, so it’ll at least be fun.
Man, I really do need to get around to picking up a 3DS or PSV soon. Virtue’s Last Reward should be dropping in October, just in time for Halloween.
