[News] Sakamichi no Apollon reunites legends.

[One is the rebel the other the straight-lace. Guess which is which.]

So my news feed today which is locked onto all things Cowboy Bebop has caught some mighty interesting information. Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe (Macross Plus, Samurai Champloo) and famed composer Yoko Kanno (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Darker Than Black) will be reunited for the upcoming anime Sakamichi no Apollon.

I’m not familiar with the work, but from what I’ve gathered the story, which won the 57th Shogakukan Manga Award, revolves around three characters including a transfer student who’s trying to fit in, a female student council president, and a rebel without a cause who all are drawn together for their love of Jazz in 1960’s Japan like the loveable bunch of rouges they are.

Jazz. In 1960’s Japan. Yoko Kanno. Music. CAN YOU FEEL MY EXCITEMENT!?!??! I may not know much about it but I’ll definitely be checking it out.

There’s a trailer released that you can see after the jump but in summary it shows off a coming of age story of love, friendship, music, melodramatic rain standing, and touchingly inspirational fist-bumps/hand holding. It also shows off a bit of music so check it out.
