The latest team-based shooter, Overwatch is jam packed with a ton of unique characters to accompany all types of playstyles. Characters that all shine in their own way whether it be a head on assault class whose job is to eliminate all enemy contact or on the opposite side of the spectrum with the medic class that stays hidden in the shadows and creeps around the map to watch other teammates and make sure their health doesn’t deplete. In addition to their various play styles, these characters all have different personalities. 21) Tracer
Although Tracer is one of the speediest characters to play as, mastering and perfecting her abilities can be very tedious. Armed with two fast Pulse Rifles, Tracer can get around the enemy and deal serious damage, but if you don't know how to use her Blink and Recall ability, this character won't be as useful to you.
20) Hanzo
Hanzo's bow is indeed strong when used correctly, but if caught out in the open, this character struggles to succeed. His ability to reveal the enemy's location is a boon, but if you're not a precise shot, Hanzo can range from stressful to useless.
19) Winston
Winston is a decent fit for a lot of different playstyles, but not that efficient overall. His primary, Tesla Cannon, fires a short range electric barrage, but it doesn't seal the deal when it comes to wiping out enemies. His ultimate ability, Primal Rage, is difficult to control, which ultimately leads to you hitting enemies without finishing them.
18) Zenyatta
Zenyatta relies on orbs, using them to buff, debuff, and deal damage. He's exceptionally squishy, however, and relies on smart use of your non-damaging skills. This, coupled with an ultimate ability that requires you join the center of the fray, make him a more challenging pick.
17) Zarya
The pink-haired Russian tank Zarya uses Projected Barrier to manipulate her opponent's weapons to add more strength to her primary weapon. She doesn't come with a simple kit or playstyle, though has potential.
16) Genji
Genji is fast and a powerful hero that requires excellent accuracy and mastery of mobility. Switching between melee and ranged weapons while remaining a low health target makes this hero a unique challenge.
15) Widowmaker
Widowmaker plays like your average sniper, which can be both comforting and challenging. Her low health requires the smart use of the grappling hook as well as expert positioning and a steady shot.
14) Lucio
Lucio is the fastest medic, no surprise since he's on roller blades. He's all about the buffs, and you'll have to properly utilize them to really make an impact for your team.
13) Symmetra
While she might not have the best weapon to defend herself, Symmetra's Sentry Turret is where she deals her most effective damage. Putting a utility skill set to good work isn't always easy. Just remember to manage her equipment wisely.
12) McCree
Armed with the Peacekeeper revolver, McCree reflects a lot of basic shooter tactics. Using him does require a fairly close range and high precision, as well as fast and smart skill chaining.
11) Mei
Mei is capable of frustrating a lot of heroes with her Endothermic Blasters, basically freezing and making vulnerable any opponents who linger in her sights. She's a durable character as well, with the ability to defend herself with the large Ice Wall and Cyro-Freeze.
10) Junkrat
His primary, Frag Grenade Launcher, coupled with his motorized tire bomb ultimate make Junkrat a simple but effective damage dealer.
9) Roadhog
Roadhog sums up the tank class pretty well. Combining his Chain Hook with a couple of blasts of his Scrap Gun will put you above the enemy almost every time. Roadhog is also able to heal himself, but remember not to get caught while doing so, as you'll be an easy target.
8) Torbjön
The underrated engineer, Torbjön is a great combination of damage and utility. He can provide his teammates with armor and set down turrets, providing two damage sources while still helping out his team. Also, turrets are generally great.
7) Reinhardt
Reinhardt is an essential part of the team when it comes to protection. He provides a massive shield with an enormous pool of defense. He's ideal for both pushing forward and defending objectives.
6) D.Va
D.Va is equipped with a large mech, complete with a large health pool. She requires all of the opposing team to come together to take her down, which is no easy task when she is loaded with vigorous Fusion Cannons. Not to mention, she can use her suit as a massive explosive, and keep shooting without it.
5) Reaper
Reaper is a top-notch performer when properly utilizing his abilities. His primary weapons, the Hellfire Shotguns, deal a significant amount of damage. He's also equipped with temporary invulnerability, a relatively low cooldown teleport, and a devastating AoE ultimate.
4) Mercy
When it comes to the medic class, there's a wide variety of healers you can choose from, but Mercy is the easiest to grasp. All you have to do is hold down the trigger and use her Canduceus Staff, making sure your teammate's health is full.
3) Bastion
Love him or hate him, Bastion conquers while playing Overwatch. Whether in Reconfiguration Sentry Mode or straight running and gunning, Bastion is easily one of the strongest and most relevant heroes in the game.
2) Soldier: 76
Soldier: 76 has a playstyle very similar to other games within the FPS genre. He comes with an AoE shot, can heal himself and allies, and is the only hero who can sprint. The familiar kit and versatility makes Soldier: 76 a breeze.
1) Phara
With Phara's Jump Pack, she can easily maneuver around map and rain down rockets while dealing some serious damage to the opponents. Thanks to her boosters and AoE damage, she's one of the easiest ways to deal damage while also staying out of harm's way.
