Pokemon GO: All Type Strengths and Weaknesses – Dragon, Electric, and More

Pokemon GO is just as much about taking your Pokemon to Gyms and competing against your fellow trainers as it is about collecting them all. The very best Pokemon trainers won’t just think about CP when stepping into the arena, but also the strengths and weaknesses of the opposing Pokemon. We’ve given you a helping hand in identifying the strengths of each type so you can deal hefty damage, and the weaknesses that you’ll want to avoid coming up against in battle.

Type Strengths: None- Normal attacks simply deliver a standard amount of damage to all types except for those listed below.
Weaknesses: Fighting

The Normal-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO are: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Rattata, Raticate, Spearow, Fearow, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Meowth, Persian, Farfetch’d, Doduo, Dodrio, Lickitung, Chansey, Kangaskhan, Tauros, Ditto, Eevee, Porygon and Snorlax.

Type Strengths: Grass, Ice, Bug, and Steel
Weaknesses: Water, Ground, and Rock

The Fire-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO are: Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Vulpix, Ninetales, Growlithe, Arcanine, Ponyta, Rapidash, Magmar, Flareon and Moltres.

You can catch 19 Flying-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO, though some of these will also fall under other types as well. There are 14 Psychic-type Pokemon up for grabs in Pokemon GO, these being: Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam, Drowzee, Hypno, Exeggcute, Exeggutor, Slowpoke, Slowbrow Jynx, Mr. Mime, Mewtwo, and Mew. Though it must be noted that Mewtwo and Mew have yet to be properly released in the game yet.

You can catch 12 Bug-type Pokemon in the game. These are: Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Paras, Parasect, Venonat, Venomoth, Scyther, and Pinsir.

Weaknesses: Water, Grass, Fighting, Steel, and Ground

There’s 11 different Rock-type Pokemon out there for catching in Pokemon GO. These are: Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Onix, Rhyhorn, Rhydon, Omanyte, Omastar, Kabuto, Kabutops,and Aerodactyl.

Strengths: Ghost
Weaknesses: Ghost

There is only Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar that are Ghost-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO currently. So all you have to do is keep coming across Gastlys and Haunters and save up enough Candy to get yourself the strongest Ghost-type in the game.

Strengths: Dragon
Weaknesses: Ice, Fairy, and Dragon

Much like the Ghost-type, there are only three Dragon-type Pokemon and they all come from the same evolutionary line. Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite can all, of course, be obtained through evolving your Dratini with Candy.

Strengths: Fighting and Dragon
Weaknesses: Poison and Steel

There are only five Fairy-type Pokemon that can be added to your Pokedex in Pokemon GO. These are: Clefairy, Clefable, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, and Mr. Mime

Strengths: Ice, Rock, and Fairy
Weaknesses: Fire, Fighting, and Ground

Finally, there are just two Steel-type Pokemon in Pokemon GO- Magnemite and Magneton.
