Meet the Voice Actors of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War’s Cast

Familiar faces.

Troy Baker, arguably the most famous video game voice actor, is returning to play one of the protagonists in Shadow of War. You would have seen him in The Last of Us, the Call of Duty series, and Uncharted 4. Talion is a human ranger who featured in the first game.

Alastair Duncan returns to the series as Celebrimbor, the grumpy elf wraith. You will recognise his voice from games including, The Mass Effect Trilogy, Uncharted 3, and Tomb Raider.

Laura Bailey worked on the first game in the series and played Ioreth. Now, for Shadow of War, she is playing an assassin called Eltariel. You’ll undoubtedly know her voice from other games including, InFamous: Second Son, Fire Emblem, and Uncharted 4/The Lost Legacy.

Fans of the hit HBO comedy Silicon Valley are likely to recognise Kumail Nanjiani and those that played Mass Effect: Andromeda are likely to recognise his voice. His film The Big Sick also released recently. He will play a character in Shadow of War but it is yet to be revealed who it will be.

Pollyanna McIntosh is currently staring in The Walking Dead TV show but will make an appearance this fall as a unknown character in Shadow of War. She has voiced a character in one video game before, that being Bella in 2011’s Dante’s Inferno.

Matthew Mercer – The Witch King of Angmar – Matthew Mercer has lend his voice to a lot of high profile games over the past few years, playing some popular characters. He is the voice of Jack Cooper in Titanfall 2, the English version of Yusuke Kitagawa in Persona 5, McCree in Overwatch, and the male version of the player in Destiny 2. He plays The Witch King of Angmar in Shadow of War.

Gideon Emery – Bruz – Gideon Emery is well known for his roles in TV shows such as Shameless, Teen Wolf and, Daredevil but he has also featured in his fair share of video games over the years. He plays Devrim Kay in Destiny 2, Governor Sloan in the Halo series, and Fergus Reid in the modern Wolfenstein games. He plays Bruz in Shadow of War.

Steve Blum – Nemesis Orcs – Steve Blum has played characters in many video games during his career. He often plays additional characters or generic thugs but he has also played protagonist or other named side characters. You may recognise his voice since he played Green Lantern in Injustice 2, Killer Croc in Batman: Arkham Knight, and Walther Dahl in Prey.

Fred Tatasciore – Background Trolls – Fred Tatasciore main video game role this year is playing Zur in Destiny 2. He also played many of the bosses in the Crash Bandicoot games, Tai Lastimosa in Titanfall 2, and Soldier: 76 in Overwatch. He plays a number of the Trolls in Shadow of War.

Neil Kaplan – Nemesis Orcs – Kaplan is another of Shadow of War’s cast to have featured in Destiny 2, having played Ghaul. He has also lent his voice to The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, Gears of War 4, and Final Fantasy XV over the last few years. He also plays a number of the orcs you will encounter as part of the Nemesis system.
