20 Drool-Worthy Details You Can Spot in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s New Trailer

The devil is in the details.

Voice Acting The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

This was by far the most obvious aspect of the new Breath of the Wild trailer is that multiple characters have revived voice work. This is a first for the core series as The Legend of Zelda hasn’t had voice overs since the CD-i versions back in 1993.

Different Regions The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Much like the other titles, this world will feature multiple regions that will no doubt correlate with different dungeons and bosses. Some of the areas we were showcased were a desert (possibly Gerudo Valley), a tropic region, a snow region, and multiple wooded locations.

Koroks The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

For those who missed out on the E3 demonstration last year, then the appearance of these little guys might be surprising. The Korok were first seen in Wind Waker and are described as descendants of the Kokiri children. In this shot we can see them hovering on the right side of the screen

The Master Sword The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

One of the most recognizable weapons in all of gaming, the Master Sword makes its appearance once more. It appears that this sword is located in front of The Great Deku Tree (blocked out by the light) and is clearly set way past when it was removed from The Temple of Time.

Hyrule Ruins

While there is no specification as too which temple this is, there are a few interesting details to note. The statue in the back seems to be a callback to Skyward Swords Ancient Cistern, specifically the actual face. However, the biggest detail is the winged motifs on either side as those can be most commonly seen around anything regarding the Triforce.

Mt. Doom The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

One of this series most famous landmarks can be spotted in the left corner of this vista and is clearly as ominous as ever.

Mysterious Creature The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Okay, theory time because there’s a few different things that this monster could turn out to be. The most obvious is a new form of Ganon as it sprouts the face is roughly similar to Ganons. However, the other possibilities is someone how Demise has returned or this is a new evil all together that’s aligned itself with Ganon like Zant in Twilight Princess.

Summoning Minions The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

While there are a lot of enemies in this series, it’s interesting to note that these creatures appear to be summoned by the dark magic enveloping Hyrule. This could mean an interesting exploration as too how is creatures are created instead of them just wandering about the world randomly waiting to get stabbed by Link.

Sand Beast The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Interesting enough this enemy either seems to be a homage or possible new rendition of the Twinmold boss in Majora’s Mask.

Multi-Use Shield The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

While we are always used to have a shield in 3D Zeldas it appears as if Breath of the Wild is trying to add more depth and utility. Being able to walk forward while blocking to close the distance is an interesting concept and could lead to some unique combat sections.

Lens of Truth Symbol The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Shown briefly before a flash of blue light covers it, viewers may have spotted the large eye with three triangles above it. This means that the Lens of Truth or Gossip Stones will be returning in some capacity. It’s more than likely they’ll be bestowing Link with knowledge like they did in Ocarina of Time.

The Great Deku Tree The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

One not so surprising return is The Great Deku tree’s brief appearance who references the events in what we can only assume is Ocarina of Time. It also looks like he might have his mustache again, which is always nice!

Inside the Machine?

There are clearly mechanical beasts roaming Hyrule but judging from the brief footage it appears as if the player actually made their way inside one. While this could be dungeon, the movement of the room and dark energy swirling around could suggest it’s in fact an enemy.

Poor Hyrule

This scene probably takes place sometime in the opening or during a flashback as the town itself is clearly Hyrule. While it’s some distance away from the castle, this could also be an outer section like we saw in Twilight Princess.

Ice Arrows

We get a very quick shot here of Link freezing an enemy via his bow, which pretty much confirms that Ice Arrows are making their return.

Gorons!

One of the recurring species in the Zelda titles, it appears that Gorons are making their return once more. This particular one has hair that roughly resembles Darunia’s from Ocarina of Time which could suggest he is either a leader or descent of this powerful ally.

The Great Fairy

Another returning ally appears to The Great Fair who has apparently taken residence up in a giant flower this time around… Well that’s better than a hole in the ground or dark cave.

Zoras

While they lack the same color as their Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker counterparts, there is little doubt that these are the famed fish people. Since its been over a 100 years, it’s more than likely they evolved or were changed by Ganon’s magic.

Falco

Okay, it’s not Star Fox’s Falco but we can hope right? Seriously though, this seems to be more of a callback to either the Rito from Wind Waker or Bird Feather from Skyward Sword.

Zelda’s Magic

It’s rare we see Zelda truly do battle, but it seems in Breath of the Wild she is more than capable of holding her own via light magic.
