Take a Look at How Gears of War’s Graphics Have Changed Through the Years

One of Xbox’s biggest franchises, Gears of War is a gritty and mature series that sees huge burly soldiers take on Locusts, Lambent and all other manner of threats that come from god knows where. Originating on the Xbox 360 in 2006 with the release of the first game, the series has since seen a further three numbered releases in the main series, a spin-off in the form of Gears of War Judgement, and an Xbox One remaster of the first game.

Starting off on the Xbox 360 back in 2006, the first game looked a little rough around the edges and focused on a very bland color palette of dark grays and other dull colors. Moving into 2008, Gears of War 2 brought a little more detail to the world of Sera and its inhabitants. It’s in 2011 with the release of Gears of War 3 that we begin to see a little more color added to the world. The game’s visuals pop a lot more than its predecessors.

With that in mind, the evolution of Gears of War’s graphics have been on quite the journey. Not only in terms of the way the characters look, but in the additional detail to the enemies and environments that all of the gruesome action goes down in. So without further ado let’s check out the evolution of the series’ graphics.
