With the first info about the next PlayStation console out in the wild and PS4 beyond its sales peak, analysts are starting to be more specific with their predictions for the PS5 (or whatever Sony will decide to call it since it doesn’t have an official name yet).

Among them is Ace Research Institute Analyst Hideki Yasuda, whose name is rather well-known in Japan due to his analysis and predictions focused on the gaming market.

Yasuda-san released his quarterly analysis of Sony’s business, and it included a few of his forecasts for the next-generation PlayStation.

According to the analyst, the new console appears to focus on eliminating the flaws of the PS4, and what we have heard so far seem to indicate an impeccable piece of hardware.

While it’s difficult to predict sales with the elements we have now, Yasuda-san expects a launch in November 2020. Assuming a price point of 40,980 yen and $499 in the west, he thinks that it’ll sell 6 million units in its first fiscal year (by March 31, 2021), followed by 15 million units in the year after (by March 31, 2022).

Incidentally, Yasuda-san’s analysis also mentions that Cloud Gaming and Google Stadia won’t be a threat for PlayStation.

Of course, you should keep in mind that this is an analyst’s forecast, based on his experience and the limited information available at the moment. It should be taken with the traditional grain of salt.
