Here’s Who Made Fortnite (Developer & Publisher)

Who Made Fortnite?

Fortnite’s a total hit in the gaming community, and has taken the world by storm. You know what they say, “Greatness from small beginnings.” Before it was such a massive battle royal staple, though, it started off as something totally different. Let’s go a bit into the history of Fortnite, shall we?

In the beginning (back in early 2017), Fortnite was meant to be a new, Free to Play tower defense game from Epic Games. It was going to be free when it officially released and you could get in on the fun early if you paid. (Epic Games acts as both the developer and publisher, by the way.) But anyway, it was at first going to be tower defense! Then, with the success of PUBG, they switched up their idea in September 2017 and released a battle royal mode that incorporated the unique defense building that was going to be in the original game. This mode was free and standalone and a huge competition for the immensely popular PUBG. The rest is, obviously, history. It took off in its current form and Epic Games hasn’t mentioned anything about that original tower defense idea again.

That’s really all there is to it! If you need any more questions answered, let us know in the comments below!
