Sea of Thieves: How to Use Cannons

How to Use Cannons in Sea of Thieves

Recommended Videos

Sea of Thieves is the latest game from Rare, and it allows players to explore the treacherous seas to discover treasure and other mystical items. Along the way, you’ll most likely encounter other players who would love nothing more than to wreck your ship and steal your loot. To prevent this, you can fight back against them by firing your cannons and destroying their ship instead.

Every ship in Sea of Thieves is equipped with a few cannons, along with a few barrels housing cannon balls. Depending on your ship size, the red barrels are usually located either at the side of the ship, or below deck. Go to one of the barrels, and press X to interact with it and take as many cannon balls as you can carry. However, do be warned that you will run out of cannon balls eventually. When that happens, you’ll need to head to an outpost to replenish your stock. Once you have your cannon balls, go to a cannon and load it up with the Y button. You’ll then be able to aim cannons and have the option to fire when you’re happy you’ve lined up your shit by pressing RT. You can also unload cannons by pressing the Y button again when near one.

In addition to that, you can also fire yourself from a cannon. Press X when next to a cannon to climb into it, then press RT to shoot yourself in whichever direction you’re aiming at.
