Following the addition of the new Operation Chimera update, Rainbow Six Siege has seen its highest daily player count to date.
According to SteamCharts, the game’s daily player count reached an all-time peak of 176,208 players on Mar. 7, smashing its previous record of 132,940. The peak comes after a steady increase in total player counts over the past month, which saw an overall increase of 50,000 players compared to February.
The increase comes after the addition of the game’s latest update which, in addition to a co-op zombie mode called Outbreak, provides two new operators and makes all weapon attachments free for every player.
Originally released Dec. 1, 2015, Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical first person shooter with a focus on team combat and environmental destruction. Since its release, Publisher Ubisoft and developer Ubisoft Montreal have provided continued support for the game with the release of DLC and updates as well as expanding the number of dedicated servers to accommodate the increasing player base. The companies plan to provide further support moving into 2018 in the form of a map pick-and-ban system, tweaks to the Hereford Base map and other improvements.
