Kingdom Come Deliverance: Keeping the Peace Quest Guide

Keeping the Peace Quest Guide in Kingdom Come Deliverance

Keeping the Peace is the sixth main quest you’ll come across when roaming around the grand expanse of Bohemia. It takes place in the town of Rattay where protagonist Henry finds himself taking on the role of one of the town’s guards. Unfortunately, the town is beset with heavy crime after the nearby town of Skalitz is destroyed, leaving its displaced residents with little else to turn to.

You’re tasked with meeting up with a watchman nicknamed Nightingale by the church between the hours of 12 PM and and 7 PM in order to survey Rattay and witness its burgeoning problem for yourself. Pick up your own guard kit on the opposite side of town behind the Cobbler. The watchtower along the banks should house a guard on the first floor that will give you what you need: a Common Bascinet, Light Padded Armor, and a Bludgeon.

Feel free to head to Nightingale now between the hours specified above. He’ll make sure you’ll have the items necessary to embark on the quest, so make sure you follow the steps above lest you waste both his and your time. If you pass his inspection, you’ll soon begin walking around town with him.

After a few minutes, you’ll both approach a blacksmith who doesn’t want a beggar named Jane on his property. The owner gave the woman alms the other day, yet she still refuses to leave. You’ll either have to ease the blacksmith into letting her stay, or give the beggar the boot yourself.

You and Nightingdale will next patrol the northern side of town, shooing off beggars and scolding guards for being asleep at their post. You’ll sit down inside a tavern and initiate a game of Farkle together, which involves each player rolling a set of six die in an effort to reach 2,000 points. There’s nothing to lose or gain here, so just try your best to learn the rules for future encounters.

Soon enough, it’ll be 9 PM and time to close up shop. Nightingale will tell you to ring the bell three times at Rathaus and come back to the tavern to make sure it’s closed for the night. Before you go out, make sure you equip yourself with a torch, as it’ll make your life so much easier.

Head down to Rathaus to ring the bell, then head back to the tavern. Open its doors to find Lord Capon and some his friends drinking and engaging in debauchery. Try to break it up and Capon will challenge you to a match of fisticuffs. Get some punches in before Lord Hanush shows up to break up the party. As a means to reprimand both you and the drunken lord, Hanush decides it best for you two to go on a hunting adventure together. This ends Keeping the Peace and leads directly into the next main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance, titled The Prey.
