REASONS TO BE EXCITED FOR METAL GEAR SURVIVE

Metal Gear

The Metal Gear franchise has been known to be extremely convoluted and just plain confusing, you can thank Kojima for that. With more than a dozen entries in the series, it can be difficult for a newcomer to just jump in at any given point; with Metal Gear Survive though, anyone can jump in without having any prior knowledge of the vast lore behind the recognized franchise.

All you need to know is that Metal Gear Survive takes place in an alternate reality between Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. A wormhole apparently appears in the sky and sucks up anything and everything, and the soldiers now have to fight their way through zombies to get back to their home world. Yeah, it sounds ridiculous, that’s because it is! You also don’t play as any of the main characters that you’d know from Metal Gear Solid V, as you’re playing as custom-created characters instead.

The survival gameplay takes the front seat while the actual plot seems to not be too important in the grand scheme of things. The cool thing is, that if you are familiar with the franchise, then you should have no problems with the control scheme, which brings us to the next point.
