Monster Hunter World: How to Sharpen Your Weapon

How to Sharpen Your Weapon in Monster Hunter World

Recommended Videos

Monster Hunter World has fourteen different weapons for you to use while out hunting and exploring. While there are plenty of options, your weapons will eventually break down and grow dull. Considering that character stats are entirely based on your equipment, this can really leave you at a disadvantage, with weapons that do very little damage. Luckily, a longtime series mechanic returns in Monster Hunter World, letting you sharpen your weapon and restore them back to their normal state. To do this, you’ll need a whetstone.

Once you have a whetstone or two in your inventory, all you need to do is use left and right on the d-pad to cycle through your quick inventory window in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, then select the whetstone. After that, just use the item by pressing Square/X and your hunter will run through the animation to sharpen their weapon. Just make sure you’re in a safe place when you do this, as it will take a second to see through. It’s a good idea to always keep a few whetstones in your inventory, just to keep your weapon in tip-top shape.

That’s all you need to know to sharpen your weapon in Monster Hunter World. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
