2018 continues the trend in recent years of packing the early months with some big video game releases. PS4 in particular is getting quite a few titles throughout the month, from smaller indie games to bigger high-profile ones. There’s a few promising exclusives and cross platform games to keep your eye on in the coming month.

Things start off strong for the PS4, as it receives its first big exclusive of the year in Shadow of the Colossus on Feb. 6. The original PS2 title is widely considered one of the greatest games ever made, and this remake is built from the ground up for the new generation of hardware. Even with quite a few updates Shadow of the Colossus stays staunchly true to the original, something we really appreciated in our review of the game.

Shortly after Shadow of the Colossus, the over-the-top action series returns with Dynasty Warriors 9 on Feb. 9. This one brings some big changes to the series, presenting a vast open world for players to explore. The typical hack-and-slash gameplay will, of course, return with thousands of enemies to take down with your flashy moves. On that same day the medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance releases. The title sticks to its historical inspirations, adding in gameplay elements based around it, like how wearing different helmets restricts your view. Anyone looking for a historically accurate role-playing experience minus all those fantasy elements should definitely keep an eye on this one.

Finally, the last part of the month sees the release of the divisive Metal Gear Survive on Feb. 20. While it is linked to the Meal Gear series, Survive is a zombie survival spin-off that takes place separately. While this may seem strange to some fans, we found the game to still be a pretty enjoyable survival title, albeit one with a messy UI.
