Associate Editor Hayes Madsen: Final Fantasy XV has seen a wealth of content added over the last year, but one of the strangest pieces is Monster of the Deep, a VR fishing experience in the world of XV. Fishing in the main game was surprisingly fun in the main game, and the same holds true for Monster of the Deep. It has some of your typical VR issues like some muddy textures and finicky controls with casting your line, but when everything works Monster of the Deep is a blast. This is especially true for the over-the-top boss battles with daemonfish that have you blasting them with a crossbow, before reeling them in.
For any fans of Final Fantasy XV, getting to insert yourself into the world of Eos is a real treat, seeing Noctis and crew face to face. Monster of the Deep may have some control issues, but it’s a unique experience through and through.
