HOW TO START IN SAFE MODE ON THE PS4

Recommended Videos

Safe Mode on the PlayStation 4 allows you to power up your system in a way that brings you to a special menu that lets you solve some issues that your PS4 might run into. You have to be really careful while going into Safe Mode, because if you end up pressing the wrong thing, you can lose some precious data – so tread carefully. Sony recommends that you only go into this mode if told by a PlayStation support article or a support staff member.

To start your PS4 in Safe Mode, your PS4 must be turned off by pressing the power button on the front panel of the system. Once the system is completely turned off, you’re going to want to press and hold the power button again, but for a long period of time. You can release the power button once you hear two beeps, which should take about 7-8 seconds. After that, just connect your PS4 controller via a USB cable and press the PS button in the middle of the controller.

After completing these steps, you will then be in Safe Mode – giving you options to update the system software, rebuild the database, and a few more things.
