How to Download Apps on Xbox One

The Xbox One is rife with several different useful apps beyond what comes packed on the system. You can download apps to stream your favorite anime, watch your favorite TV shows with on-demand streaming services, and customize your Xbox One dashboard with the kind of content you want to see. Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn’t just offer a selection of apps right out of the box. You’ve got to download the ones you want to see, so here’s how you can go about doing it.

You’ll want to make sure you’re connected to the internet via wireless or wired connection first and foremost, and that you’re on the main dashboard screen of your Xbox One. To get there, simply turn on the Xbox One or press the Xbox logo on your controller, which will take you to the home screen or dashboard area. Browse the menu until you find the “Store” panel, which will take you to the Xbox Store.

Find the Apps tile when you’re in the Store. Once you get there, you’ll see various sections for the different apps currently available. You can select the category you’re interested in here to look for the app that you want to download to your system. If you don’t see the one you want, you can use the Search panel at the corner of the screen to type in the one you’re looking for.

When you see the app you want, select it and you’ll be taken to the app’s information page. You can see its rating, the description of everything it can do, and screenshots of the app in most cases. From this page, if the app is free you can download it, and if you need to purchase it instead you’ll see a “Buy it” option. Your Xbox One will have you confirm the transaction either way, whether you’re purchasing it or grabbing a free program. When the transaction is complete, you’ll then see the app pop up on your system for you to start using.

Lather, rinse and repeat from there with the new apps you want to add to your system. Now you can customize your Xbox One to your liking with all your favorite streaming services and other things!
