How to Charge Your Nintendo Joy Cons

Your Joy Cons on your Nintendo Switch console probably get a lot of use if you’re constantly detaching them or playing with them on the go with your Switch, so make sure you know how to juice the back up in a pinch. It’s very simple to charge up Joy Con controllers, and there are a couple of different ways you can do it.

It can take about 3.5 hours to fully charge both controllers, according to Nintendo, so make sure you’ve got some time to wait around if you want to make sure they’re topped off and ready to go. Then, if you want to keep them attached to your Nintendo Switch, make sure they’re fully attached on both sides of the system, then use your AC adapter to plug the entire unit into the wall for some much-needed charging. This is the easiest way to go about it, especially if you keep your Switch docked.

Alternatively, you can use the Joy Con charging grip to charge your controller separately, and it will charge both Joy Cons at the same time. Take both controllers and hook them up to the Joy-Con charging grip, and then connect your Joy Con charging grip to your Switch dock via USB cable or via Nintendo Switch AC adapter.

These two methods should help you get your Joy Cons in tip-top shape for many more hours gaming time, and as long as you take care of them they should last you a good, long while.
