January 2018 Free Games
Sony is kicking off the new year with a really strong lineup of free games for PS Plus subscribers. The headlining title for January 2018 is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the follow-up to Human Revolution. While there were some issues with its level design and slightly thin plot, it’s still a pretty fantastic stealth game to dive into if you’re a fan of the genre and the Deus Ex series.
Sony is also offering the first season of Telltale’s Batman series. If you’ve any interest in a solid Batman story that focuses more on Bruce as a character, the first season is well worth playing. It’s worth mentioning that the plot really develops into something truly interesting by its second season, in which several iconic DC villains are introduced.
PS Vita owners aren’t neglected as well, as Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness makes its way into the lineup. Presented as a midquel to quite possibly the best and most thought-provoking anime series we’ve seen in the last decade, Mandatory Happiness is a visual novel that introduces three new characters, and features full voice acting from the original Japanese cast. Its conclusion might be inconsequential to the grand overarching story of Psycho-Pass, but it’s still a nice supplement to the rich lore of the universe.
