Pokemon Go Global Catch Challenge Pushes Players to Catch 3 Million Pokemon Worldwide

Stock up on those Poke Balls!

Niantic continues to push special Pokemon Go events to keep players interested, and this time around there’s a new Pokemon Go Global Catch Challenge that’s asking players around the world to rack up 3 billion captured Pokemon. Starting today and running through nov. 26, you need to get out there and catch ‘em all, or as many as you can.

If you participate and indeed unlock several Pokemon during the event period, Niantic will be keeping track of your successes. There are three different tiers to unlock during the time period the event is going on, and the first one will unlock after 500 million Pokemon have been caught. Everyone will be granted double XP and six hours of incense to lure more Pokemon to their location.

The next tier unlocks at 1.5 billion Pokemon caught, and you’ll get everything in the 500 million Bronze tier as well as double stardust. The Gold tier unlocks at 3 billion Pokemon caught, and if players reach that tier, Farfetch’d will unlock worldwide for 48 hours. Also, Kangaskhan will then be available in East Asia for 48 hours.

There are tons of awesome goodies on the line to get people to get out there and start playing, especially since there are additional Pokemon appearing as players reach each tier. If you’ve been looking for a reason to get back into the game, this is a great reason to download Pokemon Go once more!
