Electronic Arts announced today that a new installment of its mixed martial arts fighting game franchise, EA Sports UFC 3, will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Feb. 2, 2018.
According to an EA Sports press release, the new “G.O.A.T. Career Mode” will focus on players’ choices outside of fights in the octagon by building hype for matches and earn lucrative contracts. The mode will feature a “new in-game social media system” that allows players to develop a personality for their fighter and create rivalries with other fighters.
EA Sports UFC 3 includes two new multiplayer modes, “Stand & Bang” and “Submission Showdown,” that are designed for “fast, fun fights that are perfect for letting fists fly.” The game also offers a tournament mode that places fighters in multiple fights with bracket-style elimination rounds.
The game will feature a new animation technology that contains “over 5,000 new animations captured and rebuilt from the ground up.”
“The new animation technology has allowed us to take a massive leap forward in motion and responsiveness,” said EA Sports UFC 3 creative director Bryan Hayes. “The result is a complete overhaul to gameplay where every move is more strategic and looks more authentic and beautiful.”
Conor McGregor, the only UFC fighter to hold UFC titles in two different weight classes simultaneously, returns as the cover star for the game. He was featured alongside ex-UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey for EA Sports UFC 2 in 2016. Check out the official reveal trailer below.
