Super Mario Odyssey: How to Crouch

How to Crouch in Super Mario Odyssey

Recommended Videos

Everyone’s favorite mustachioed plumber is back and ready for some action in Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch. Once again Mario will have to traverse many colorful worlds in order to save some Kingdoms and help Princess Peach escape the clutches of the dastardly Bowser. He has his full repertoire of platforming maneuvers and even some that aren’t exclusively for jumping, such as crouching. Here’s how to crouch in Super Mario Odyssey.

To crouch, you simply have to hold down the ZL button on your Joy-Cons or on the Switch Pro Controller. Doing so will have Mario duck down which can help him avoid threats or even set up for a higher jump. Releasing the button will make him stand upright again. That’s all there is to it.

Combining crouch with other actions like the wall jump and long jump should see you mastering the platforming challenges that Nintendo has put forth for Mario and Cappy in Super Mario Odyssey.
