Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become one of the biggest games of the year and has proven to be especially popular among streamers. The Battle Royale survival game sees 100 players dropped into a large open world and they must then fight to survive to be the last player standing. The prize for such a feat? Some tasty chicken.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been smashing records since it came out, even though the game is still in Early Access. Such is the game’s popularity that it has reached almost 2 million concurrent players on Steam. Over the weekend, the game saw the concurrent number of players reach 1,984,278 players. This is a record breaking number and beats out even the biggest games available through Steam.
The peak number of concurrent players on Steam at once is just over 16 million, so PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds makes up for about 12% of that number. It seems there’s no stopping the game and, what with talks of it coming to consoles, it seems it will only get bigger.
