Surely it’ll come to the West!?
Okami was originally released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2006 and was praised by critics for its gorgeous visuals, engaging story, and originality. The game went on to see a release on the Wii and PS3 a few years later. Those of you who love Okami, or have been meaning to try it, will be pleased to learn that the game is coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Unfortunately it’s currently slated for a release in Japan only.
Capcom announced Okami HD in the latest issue of Famitsu, as reported by Gematsu. The game will get a physical re-release in Japan and all versions of the game will support 4K for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X users. So far it seems the game will only be available in Japan but, this announcement follows rumors from European retailers who had Okami HD listed for current gen consoles. If this rumor is true, it suggests the game may well come to other territories.
Capcom has recently started releasing a variety of HD remasters of its games. We’ve seen many of the past Resident Evil titles come to the current gen, as well as a port of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen due to be released later this year. Okami HD is set to be released in Japan on December 13, here’s hoping it makes it over to the West.
Update: It has since been announced that the game will indeed be coming to North America and Europe on December 12 for $19.99.
