Reviving Characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Recommended Videos

It’s going to happen to everyone at some point in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Whether you make a miscalculated move, or you’re outplayed by the enemy AI, you will inevitably have one of your characters die. However, don’t worry if this does happen. There’s no permadeath setting at play here, so you will be able to revive them if the need arises.

When you’re starting out in the game, you will be able to find Resurrection scrolls all throughout the world. Scrolls can also be bought from vendors, with the earliest ones appearing at Fort Joy. To resurrect a dead character, simply assign the Resurrection scroll to the hotbar of any of your characters, click on it to activate it, then click on the character you want to revive. This will bring them back to life with 20% of their maximum HP. If you have enough scrolls, I recommend letting each of your characters carry one, just in case you need to pull off an emergency resurrection in battle.

However, scrolls can become rather difficult to come by, especially if you have to keep reviving dead characters. To avoid this, I also recommend quick saving your game before each fight so that you can reload the file if anything goes wrong. It’s also highly possible that one of your party members or classes will be able to learn a permanent Resurrection spell later in the game, but at the moment, we haven’t encountered anything like that just yet. We’ll keep you updated once we get more info on this.
