I’m still feeling a bit double-crossed by Capcom’s decision not to localize this game.
The Japanese release of Monster Hunter XX: Double Cross – Nintendo Switch Ver. occured yesterday, and we’re getting a chance to see what kind of special tie-ins the new version of the title is bringing. The first collaboration is a host of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild-themed armor, weapons, and other items.
You can deck your hunter out with their very own version of Link’s Champion’s Tunic complete with a Sheikah Tablet. Even better is an adorable Korok costume for your fighting kitty companions the Palicos.
Take a look at the trailer below and soak it all in, then let it out with a sigh. According to Capcom, it’s not localizing Monster Hunter XX for a North American release, so many outside of Japan won’t get a chance to enjoy it. However, since the Nintendo Switch is region-free, you can easily sign into the Japanese eShop and purchase the game if you choose to. Beware though, it’s an action RPG, and if you can’t read Japanese, you’re going to be lost very quickly.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild items will release for Monster Hunter XX in Japan on September 1.
