If you were excited to hear about the newest expansion pack for The Sims 4, the adorable The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs, you probably envisioned playing with your furry friends. You know, the way you used to do in The Sims 3. According to Grant Rodiek, producer on The Sims 4 expansion packs, that won’t be the case.
After months’ worth of deliberations by the Sims team it was decided that the pets themselves would go back to the way things were in The Sims 2 Pets and your furry friends would be left to their own devices. According to Rodeik in a Twitter exchange with a fan, in order to make them “spontaneous, lifelike, and special” they pets needed to be able to exist without player control. Rodiek is confident that the team made the right decision, and it sounds like from the way things will go in this expansion, which also allows you to become a veterinarian.
That’s not all developers let loose today during Gamescom, as @SimGuruDrake on Twitter, the Global Community Manager for Maxis and The Sims, stated that there will also be foxes to befriend in the expansion. In fact, there’s a very brief glimpse of them in the trailer, and yes, they look just as adorable as you can imagine.
It’s going to be exciting to see how things turn out with pets going their own direction and caring for animals other than dogs and cats, so look forward to the expansion when it drops this November.
