No Man’s Sky’s Atlas Rises Update 1.3 Launches, Adds 30-Hour Campaign and Multiplayer

no man's sky

Atlas rises.

Earlier this week Hello Games announced that a new update was on the way for No Mans Sky, and now the patch notes for 1.3 have been detailed in full. Called “Atlas Rises”, the additional content is significant, adding a new 30-hour story campaign, procedurally-generated missions, and a limited form of multiplayer where you see other players as floating orbs.

All of the changes represent notable additions to the No Mans Sky, but the multiplayer component, in particular, will be of great interest to players who had hoped the feature would be included in the original release. For now, it’s a limited offering where up to 16 players will see each other represented as glowing orbs, and you can communicate via VOIP while in close proximity during multiplayer.

There is, however, a suggestion that deeper multiplayer content will launch in the future. Hell Games states: “While interaction with others is currently very limited, this is an important first step into the world of synchronous co-op in No Man’s Sky,”.

Although you will have to be near each other to communicate, portals for fast travel have also been added to the game, which should make meeting up with your pals a little easier in multiplayer.

Of the game’s new campaign, Hello Games said: “Our story brings a new context, quest system and branching narrative to No Man’s Sky,”.

Hello Games website teases:

“Discover the truth behind the Abandoned Building logs, the World of Glass, the Sentinels, the Redemption of the Gek, and the meaning of sixteen…”

Updated 1.3 Atlas Rises is out now and available for download.
