Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Latest Patch Doesn’t Fix Much

Only a slight tweak.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just received a new patch in the form of update 1.21, but it’s nothing to get too excited about.

The patch, whose notes you can check out here, don’t add any new features or functionality to the game. Instead, the update simply “Corrected an issue that prolonged the time to return to the lobby after races near the start and end times of online tournaments.”

While this is sure to smoothen out the experience for those who find themselves racing online with others a lot, it’s not quite as noticeable as the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s previous update which changed the items that players at the back of the pack would get in order to balance the race out.

We were big fans of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in our review, citing the ability to “take the excellent experience on the go” as a huge draw. You can check out our full thoughts on the game here.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out now on the Nintendo Switch.
