How to Dodge and Evade in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Recommended Videos

When you have a game with as tight a combat system as Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice’s, you’re going to want to use every tool at your disposal to stay out of harm’s way. After all, Ninja Theory, a studio known for beautiful combat in games such as DmC: Devil May Cry and Heavenly Sword, doesn’t exactly make enemies pushovers in any of their games. Don’t worry, though, it’s all balanced, and you’ll have everything you need to keep safe while delivering the hurt. All you need to do is know how to dodge and evade in order to keep just out of reach while also closing distances to provide the smackdown to the demons within Senua’s mind.

To dodge and evade you simply need to tap X. You’ll then roll or step into the direction that you’re moving in. This is a good way to sidestep overhead attacks, or to back out of range of wide, sweeping swings from enemies. It’s useful offensively as well. You can tap X to close the distance between you and an enemy, putting yourself right in their face. In fact, this is the start of many of the more aggressive combos in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, so get comfortable with the maneuver.
