Bandai Namco are one of Japan’s biggest publishers right now, consistently releasing successful titles worldwide. This year, Tekken 7 has released under their wing, amongst others, and they’ve also handled the release of the Dark Souls trilogy to great success. Today, however, the company have teased a new IP: Projekt 1514. All we have to go off right now is a 30-second teaser trailer, but we already know a little of what we’re in for.
The game, which is being developed by Dimps, looks like it’s going to be set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic setting, and we’re probably going to end up fighting for survival in the ruins of a modern city. Looking at Dimps’ development history, the most successful titles they’ve released in the last few years is Street Fighter V and Dragonball Xenoverse games – they don’t seem likely to bring out another dedicated fighting game franchise, hinting that Projekt #1514 could be an MMO. The graphical quality of the trailer certainly leads us to believe it could be an MMO, too; there’s nothing spectacular about the fidelity of the scenes we’ve seen, meaning it might be headed in that direction.
In the background of the teaser, you can hear gunshots, further hinting that this’ll be a futuristic setting. It’ll be interesting to see what Dimps does to handle gunplay – something they haven’t shown off much before. Whatever it is, we’re excited to see what Dimps and Bandai Namco are doing behind closed doors with Projekt #1514, and we’ll keep you up to date with whatever news may come out. We don’t know any dates for further announcements, with the teaser simply telling us to ‘stay tuned’ so keep your eye out.
