Recently Twinfinite had an opportunity to speak with Assassin’s Creed Origins game director, Ashraf Ismail, about Assassin’s Creed Origins, the anticipated next entry in the AC series. After a brief hiatus, the AC series is back and Ubisoft is hoping that AC Origins will rejuvenate the nearly decade old franchise.
One element of AC that has consistently captured the imagination of fans is game’s tie-in to the modern day. Although we had a feeling that we would get a non-answer if we asked about it, we have to at least try right? While, Ismail wouldn’t go into specific details, he did convince us that they haven’t forgotten the present day storyline exists. When we asked about what details he would be willing to share about the modern day story line in AC Origins, Ismail had this to say:
“We are not talking about anything outside of Egypt as of this moment in the campaign. OK… what I would say is, we listen to our fans, we really pay attention to the feedback. They are very passionate about a lot of stuff, including modern day, so we pay attention. I would say: hold onto that detail. More will be announced later. But for now we’re not talking about anything outside of Egypt.” said Ismail.
Well, it’s not a whole lot, but it’s something at least. We’ll need more than that to make any kind of proclamation, but they didn’t shut it down. That plus the whole – hang tight we’ll announcement more later vibe – comes off as encouraging. If you’re a fan of the modern day story in Assassin’s Creed, and are looking forward to it in AC Origins, you can probably walk away from that comment feeling pretty good about its chances in Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Speaking of things fans really want to know about but Ubisoft wasn’t ready to spill the beans on yet, we also asked if we could get any hints/comments about what the Piece of Eden might be. We threw out there that the Egpytian symbol of life, the Ankh, has been a topic of speculation and this is what Ismail had to say:
“Without any spoilers, what I would say is, we’re very aware of lore… So that’s it! We’re very aware of lore [laughs]. ” Ismail said.
Take all of that for what it’s worth AC fans. We’ll find out more on Oct. 27 when it releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
