Team 17’s The Escapists 2 is set to make its big release next month on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. However, Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait a little longer.
The Escapists 2 continues the jail-breaking fun of the last game, but with a bit of a twist. This time around, players will have the opportunity to test their wits against 10 unique prisons from Fort Tundra to a train speeding through a desert. While all of these will be playable solo, The Escapists 2 will also allow for drop-in, drop-out online multiplayer, allowing you to jump in and quickly help your friends, before backing out and allowing them to make their escape on their own.
The Escapists 2 will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on August 22, but Team 17 noted in the trailer’s description that there is a “Nintendo Switch version to follow.” Unfortunately, there’s no word on exactly when The Escapists 2 will come to Switch, but it’s sure to be disappointing news to fans that it won’t hit Nintendo’s system at the same time as other platforms. You can check out the release date trailer below.
Team 17 also announced today that anyone who pre-orders The Escapists 2 will gain access to an additional prison called The Glorious Regime. This prison will task players with breaking out of a hidden compound deep in the jungle. You’ll have to avoid guards, constant surveillance, and the Illustrious Leader if you’re going to make it out alive.
The Escapists 2 will be available both physically and digitally on PS4 and Xbox One, and is available to pre-order now on PC via Steam.
