Coming to a galaxy not so far away.
The D23 Expo, which is Disney’s major fan event, is also a source of new and exciting announcements coming out of the major brand and all around household name. One major focus of the event was the reveal of brand new images for Star Wars based sections of both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. And all of this before D23 has even officially begun!
It’s no secret that Star Wars is going to have quite a bit of land dedicated to it in the two major theme parks. Not only have there been storm troopers on parade since the company acquired Star Wars from Lucasfilms, but it was announced long ago in this galaxy that plans were being developed. But a series of images show off the developing attractions, and boy do they look mighty fine.

The model for this Star Wars themed expansion of the park is not only being displayed at D23, but attendees will be able to walk through portions of it. But if you are hoping to recognize the landscape that makes up this Star Wars land, don’t rack your brain for too long. This model is based on a never-before-seen planet. However, it’s easy to spot several familiar crafts, the Millennium Falcon being one.
More details are expected to be delievered to Star Wars fans over the weekend once D23 actually kicks off. Until then, know that the plans for both Disneyland and Disney World is to have their new sections open in 2019.
