Splatoon 2: How to Teleport to Teammates in Online Matches

Why run when you can warp?

During your online multiplayer matches in Splatoon 2, you’ll be able to respawn from your team’s side of the map whenever you get splatted by the enemy. However, this also means that you’ll have to run all the way back to the fight, and this could cost you precious time. Thankfully, just like in the first game, there is a way for you to cut down that downtime.

Whenever you die in a match, simply bring up the game map by pressing the X button on the Switch. This will give you an overview of all your teammates’ positions, as well as the areas that are currently covered with your paint color. With the d-pad, you can move your cursor around and highlight your teammates. If you press the A button to confirm, you’ll be able to warp straight to their position when you respawn without having to start all the way back from the original checkpoint. However, use this function with care. You don’t want to warp straight into an enemy’s special ability and end up getting splatted yet again.
