Beating the Octo Oven Boss in Splatoon 2

Recommended Videos

The Octo Oven is the first boss you’ll run into after completing all challenges in the first world of Splatoon 2’s single-player campaign. The fight itself is fairly straightforward, though you’ll need to be a little quick on your feet if you want to survive.

The boss always starts off with the same pattern. As the toaster shakes, be ready to jump out of the way as large loaves of bread will pop out from its sides to hit you. Right as the bread jumps out, just strafe to the side and you’ll be fine. After a couple of similar attacks, steam will start emanating from the toaster. The boss will do a similar attack again, but this time, the loaves of bread will stay where they are for a few seconds. When this happens, splatter some paint onto the bread and turn into a squid to climb on top of it. From here, splatter more paint onto the climbable walls, and then climb your way up. You’ll now be face to face with the squid tentacle, which is the Industrial Toast’s weak point. Shoot it, and it’ll toss you off its back.

The next two phases of the battle will proceed in pretty much the same way, except there will now be pillars of pink paint on the edges. Avoid these as you bait the bread attacks. The third phase will see the boss turn a full circle while splattering pink paint on the ground. Just run in the opposite direction while shooting your own paint onto the ground if you need to make a quick escape. The climbable areas will decrease in size as the fight goes on, but just keep your cool, time your jumps, and you’ll be fine.
