SEGA Celebrates Sonic’s 26th Birthday with a Special Sonic Mania Vinyl

Happy Birthday, Sonic!!

Sonic the Hedgehog is celebrating his 26th birthday and SEGA felt it was only right that he has a special vinyl just for the occasion. SEGA announced that they have partnered up with Data Discs to create a special Sonic Mania vinyl album that will be available in three different editions. You won’t be able to get your hands on the vinyl for Sonic’s birthday but making the announcement on the special milestone is still a great way to celebrate everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog.

The Sonic Mania vinyl album will come in a special limited edition version that will only be available to purchase from Data-Discs.com, a translucent blue version that uses its unique colors to pay homage to SEGA’s mascot and, of course, a classic black version. As for the limited edition vinyl, the actual design hasn’t been released or announced just yet. Pre-orders for all versions of the vinyl will open in July, giving you a few extra days to scrap together some extra cash. The vinyl will feature select tracks by composer Tee Lopes and will also come with some snazzy artwork of Sonic the Hedgehog’s now iconic characters in Green Hill Zone Act 2. A tracklist hasn’t been released for the vinyl just yet but the visuals provided so far do an extraordinary job of celebrating Sonic’s legacy.

If you’re not too much of a vinyl collector but still want to purchase something for the occasion, SEGA has also announced the release of a pair of official Sonic the Hedgehog shoes. The shoes are made to look just like the kicks we have seen Sonic sporting all these years and, to be honest, the shoes look pretty good.

The shoes are designed by ANIPPON and will cost you about $60. Pre-orders for the shoes opened up today.

As we all celebrate the past 26 years of Sonic, let’s also not forget to look towards this iconic game character’s future. The Sonic the Hedgehog series is still running strong with Sonic Mania scheduled for a release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on August 15.
