HOW TO TAKE PART IN GYM RAID BATTLES IN POKEMON GO

Recommended Videos

The main part of Pokemon GO’s new gym rework update is the addition of Raid Battles that you take part in alongside a squad of other trainers.

You are warned about nearby Gym Raids a couple of hours before they start and then you have a set time (usually an hour) to defeat the powerful Pokemon. It can be anything from a Magikarp to a Tyranitar, with you needing more help to take them down depending on how difficult they are. It is very unlikely that you’ll be able to take on a higher level Raid on your own. Once you have found one nearby, and you have some other trainers to help, head to the gym to start the Raid.

Once you are there, and the boss Pokemon has been revealed, press the ‘Battle’ icon in front of the Pokemon, which will prompt you to use your Raid Pass or buy one if you don’t have one. Then it gives you the chance to join a group by choosing your group code from a grid of Pokemon icons, or roll solo. You then have 100 seconds to choose the six Pokemon you wish to battle with and the game will search for any other trainers that wish to join your squad – you will also be able to use items such as potions on your Pokemon at this time. The fight will automatically begin once the timer has ended and everyone is ready.

Once the battle is over, the Raid boss’ CP will decrease and you will have the chance to attempt to catch it using a set number of Premiere Balls that are given to you. The better you perform during the Raid, the more balls you will be given. If you run out of Premiere Balls, you will not be able to catch the Pokemon and any balls you have remaining do not roll over to other Raids.

That is how you take part in Raid Battles in Pokemon GO. For more on the game, be sure to stick with us at Twinfinite.
