Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions Coming to 3DS

Let’s a-go back to the original Superstar Saga!

During Nintendo’s Treehouse Live stream, the company unveiled Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions for Nintendo 3DS. Scheduled for an October 6 release, the remake of the original Game Boy Advance role-playing game is an expanded version of the original game with new characters and a new side-story.

The “Bowser’s Minions” portion allows you to recruit and build up your own personal army of minions together (think Goombas and other baddies) as you band together to find where your beloved leader Bowser has gone off to. It’s a game all its own, and a meaty one at that according to Nintendo, with strategy elements that allow you to become your own bad guy troop battalion leader.

The game’s been given an aesthetic overhaul as well, with the same pixel artwork from the original game, according to Nintendo, but 3D lighting added to make things prettier. You can see the difference in the trailer that aired during the Treehouse stream.

Also new to the game is the pin mechanic, where just like in Google Maps, you can drop pins to remind yourself where you’ve been and where you’d like to revisit in the future. There are also new amiibo figures coming alongside the game’s release of Koopa Troops and Goomba, and they are suitably adorable.

This is a pretty exciting development, especially if you missed out on the game its first time around. Now all you need to jump back in is a 3DS.
