Back into the fray.
Today’s Ubisoft E3 press conference gave us our first glimpse at Far Cry 5’s gameplay. The presentation kicked off with a powerful trailer featuring the cult’s sunglasses-toting leader singing Amazing Grace while holding a rifle above his head before moving to the fast-paced gameplay demo.
We’re shown the effect the fanatic cult has had on Hope County before leaping right into the high octane shooting. The gunplay is a pretty typical Far Cry affair, but with a larger emphasis placed on co-op antics. You can be joined by Nick Rye, a prop plane pilot who can rain death from above, and even Boomer, a loyal canine who will attack enemies and retrieve firearms for the player.
The game will also include plenty of vehicles, including planes and even tractors that can be used to tear apart enemies who can’t run away fast enough. The weapons showcased in the gameplay highlight the small town USA setting of the game.
The setting is unique for the Far Cry series which has previously brought players to tropical, exotic locales. Far Cry 5 looks to be an incredibly unique entry in the series and a game that tackles some incredibly important and heavy subject matter.
Far Cry 5 will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC February 27, 2018.
