That steelbook though.
It has been over a week since Nintendo announced that we would be getting a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus for the 3DS, appropriately titled, Metroid: Samus Returns. The company has now unveiled a legacy collection for the title that is exclusive to Europeans; the collection is vastly superior to North America’s special edition that was unveiled during E3.
Take a look at Europe’s legacy collection for Samus Returns and see why the rest of the world is currently crying with jealous rage:
Not only does the collection come with the game, of course, it bears a Game Boy cartridge-shaped steelbook, a 3DS download code for the classic game that is Metroid II: Return of Samus, a soundtrack with music from the series, a pin, a keyring, and a 40-page artbook to boot.
Guess what the inferior special edition comes with? You guessed it – the game and a soundtrack, that’s it. Unfortunately, unlike the Switch, the 3DS is not region-free, which means that Metroid fans not in Europe will be able to buy the legacy collection but won’t be able to physically play the cartridge in their non-European 3DS’.
Metroid: Samus Returns launches on Sept. 15 for the Nintendo 3DS.
