Before the game’s launch, not everyone was ready to bet on the success of the new chapter of the historical SoulCalibur series. After several years of hiatus and an unfortunate free-to-play release, not even Bandai Namco was so sure that it wouldn’t bomb, so much that we heard from the game’s producer that an unsuccessful release could jeopardize the future of the franchise.

Yet, two months later, SoulCalibur VI has certainly proven its mettle, and we can now be more confident that the series is likely to keep going. The trailer showcases the rather enthusiastic reception from critics to a game that doesn’t seem to be afraid to stick to its guns and even fly in the face of trends.

You can check out the video below. If you want to learn more about the game, you can read our own enthusiastic review. You can also check out the recently-released DLC character 2B from NieR: Automata and a look at the story mode.

SoulCalibur VI is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

If accolades trailers are your thing, you should certainly check this one released yesterday, because it’s rather hilarious.
