ARMS: How to Play With a Controller

For those who don't want to move around.

Playing With a Controller in ARMS

Recommended Videos

If you’re not a fan of the Switch’s motion controls, you’ll be able to experience the exciting fighting combat of ARMS by using a controller instead. The game will work with the Joy-Cons and the Switch Pro controller, so choose whichever you’re more comfortable with.

To use the controller, all you have to do is pair it up with your Switch before booting the game. Alternatively, you can also power on your controller after you’ve already booted up the game, and the console itself will prompt you to select your desired play style. Simply press the L and R buttons on whichever controller you want to use, and you’ll be good to go.

However, do note that there are some disadvantages to playing ARMS with the controller rather than motion controls. For instance, it’ll be much harder to curve your punches with precision, and it could be more difficult for you to to catch enemies who are side-stepping you constantly. That said, this is still a viable alternative for those unable to adapt to the motion controls, or players who just want to kick back on a couch while playing.
