Xbox One: How to Snap an App

How to Snap an App on Xbox One

Recommended Videos

When the Xbox One was first showcased by Microsoft, one of its many unique features was its ability to snap an app to the side of your screen. Whether you wanted to watch the game live while playing Call of Duty, or just check the achievements list for the game you’re playing, it was a multi-taskers dream. As such, many players are probably wondering exactly how to snap an app on Xbox One.

Unfortunately, as of an update that released this January, Microsoft opted to remove the feature from the interface. While you used to use the View button on your Xbox One to snap an app to the side of the screen, this no longer has that same functionality.

Xbox Platform Head Mike Ybarra explained the reasoning for the change in a Tweet back in January. Ybarra commented, “We replaced Snap to improve multitasking, reduce memory use, improve overall speed, and free up resources going forward for bigger things.”

Fear not, though, if you want to use music apps while playing games, these now appear in the Guide at the bottom. You can also control these apps from here.

That’s all you need to know about the old multitasking feature on Xbox One.
